Dev Blog #24

Hello everyone! In this dev blog, I'd like to show off some of the new assets our graphics artists have been working on. This isn't a comprehensive list, it's just an overview of their notable recent work. Enjoy!

Prison Buildings:
Recently, Hadestia donated some of their prison buildings to the project. They include an admissions office, mess halls, busses, cells, and concrete walls. Here are a handful of the…

Dev Blog #20

New Tree Type:
I have recently added oak trees to Cytopia based on some art RockFort made. In addition, I have also changed the map generation so it includes poplar, pine, birch, and oak trees! These changes are already live, so you should see them when you update the game.

Dev Blog #19

Welcome back, everyone! Since the last dev log, we've made a decent chunk of progress on the game, from adding all the new trees, to implementing our new font and cursor.

New Font:
We've been experimenting with some new, more versatile fonts recently. Let us know what you think about it on our Discord server! If you'd like to see this first hand, just update the game through the Itch io…

Dev Blog #18

Hello and welcome to Dev Blog #18! Unfortunately, I had to skip last month because nothing major was added. The developers have been very busy with real-life stuff and they haven't had as much free time recently. Anyway, let me show you what we have done over the past two months!

Blueprint/Pipeview Improvements:
Westrox (one of our devs) is working on improving the blueprint view by showing buildings and roads while you're using it.

Dev Blog #17

Welcome back, everyone! In this month's dev blog, we have a few cool additions to cover and a large announcement regarding the Android version of Cytopia.

New Changes/Fixes:
A few changes and bug fixes have been made and will appear in public versions of the game soon. Two of these fixes include making water flora tiles overplacable and preventing the player from placing water under buildings. The third change adds the ability to modify the transparency of zones in the…

Android Port:
After a lot of time (and much frustration on the developers’ parts), we have finally begun to port Cytopia to Android! We’ve managed to get the game running, however, there are still many issues to fix and features to add. Therefore, it’ll stay in private development until we are satisfied with the state of the game. Don’t worry if you play on another platform other than PC and Android though.

Dev Blog #12

Welcome back, readers! We've been working on some improvements to the game in preparation for v0.2 and v0.3 this month, with more improvements to come.

New Music Track:
A new music track named "January's Theme" has been made by our Sound Designer, MB22. You can listen to it, and all of our tracks, here.

UI Improvements and New Menus:
The developers have been working on improving Cytopia's UI…

Dev Blog #10

Welcome back, readers!  After a couple of months without a dev blog, the time has come for Dev Blog #10.

WASD Panning:
You can now move the camera around using WASD.  It's a small, but useful change that I'm sure some of you will enjoy.

OST Available on YouTube:
Cyctopia's full OST is now available on YouTube!  It features all four tracks made for the game so far, and it'll be updated as…

A Lifetime Behind Bars:
It's finally Spooktober and what a better way to celebrate it than to add the scariest thing of all time to the game.  Bats?  Zombies? Skeletons?  Of course not!  The scariest thing we could imagine was a lifetime of sadness in prison.  Cytopia now has some prison pieces for you to play around with, although it lacks proper functionality at the moment.

There is also…

Dev Blog #7

New Slider:
A new slider for the UI has been made by one of our developers, Liz.  Although it's not used for much now, it'll be useful in the future for things like terrain generation selection.

New Ground Types:
There's a new terrain type: mud!  It goes well with the dirt and soil we have.  And of course, it'll be used in map generation once we get that feature done.  On top of that, we also…

Dev Blog #4

Hello everyone.  Another couple of weeks have passed by, which means that it’s time for another dev blog.

Touch Controls:
Touch controls have been added to the game.  You can now control the game with relative ease using these touch controls.  However, this will mainly be for Windows 10 devices for now.  Here’s a video about it:
